Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Heavy Fire Damage

Insurance companies and restoration companies rate fire damage as heavy, medium and light. The determining factors include the amount of structural damage and the concentration of smoke contamination. How thick is the soot?

This picture shows heavy soot damage in a fire damaged home. The fire fighters put wet contents in the middle of the room to give them access to be able to inspect walls to make certain the fire was out. Our SERVPRO crew removed the damaged contents and set about our cleaning and demolition. In many fires the smoke will get behind the sheetrock wallboard and contaminate the wall cavity. In this home we had to remove the wallboard so we could clean and deodorize the framing and inside of the exterior wall board. Once this is completed, new interior wallboard is installed so the occupants won't have to worry about lingering odor problems.
